A Few Words

about Me

I was born and grew in Lemnos. While I was studying in Athens I came across with the art of the Byzantine iconography in the school of Metropolitan of Nikaia and I became completely amazed and fascinated by this art. I was graduated with a specialization in the portable icon and murals (with instructor the well-known hagiographer Georgio Kordi). I returned to my hometown initially in Kontopouli village of Lemnos where I ran a workshop for several years and then I have moved to the central traditional market of Myrina until now.

During these years I have participated in many individual and group exhibitions in Athens, Thessaloniki and Lemnos (Warehouse C Port Thessaloniki, buildings of TIF, MEC Peanias, Municipal Gallery of Kondias Lemnos and more)

The natural beauty and scenery of the island, the abundancy of its natural material and the local tradition helped me to improve my techniques and to discover new ways of iconography (although it is a very limited art). Therefo, not only was I involved in iconography of portable icons and iconography of churches (murals) but also with the icons made with natural materials (sea wood) which are considered to be my distinctive feature of my art.

Recently, I have been involved in teaching this special art in small groups of students.
